|HI 2018! I love these group thread ideas and don't see why they couldn't all EASILY have cats incorporated into the mix. |
Gale would never see himself as a member of a support group, but, for lack of any alternative, he would attend with the idea that the meetings provide essential info-gathering and memory strengthening exercises. Because he doesn’t
need want help managing his emotional state, he just wants to know about and plan for symptoms.
As of now he doesn't remember much of anything yet, likely he'll rely on his photo album instead of memories at first. But he would willingly participate in exercises - that he will assume must be grounded in scientifically sound methods - at least until someone started getting emotional, then he'd be like "The tears are a little distracting, do you mind?"
I had a couple of ideas about thread and posting mechanics, which may or MAY NOT be helpful. Just tossing these out here to keep the ball rolling:
(also apologies in advance because I was excited when I typed this up earlier, and I've been trying to edit it down to be concise, but I don't even know what makes sense. Like thread logistics vs posting mechanic, I don't even know the difference anymore.)
Listen, cats are good for therapy. That's just scientific fact.
So I honestly see no reason they shouldn't just start becoming a staple of every group therapy meeting. ~*~and the smell of litterboxes never leaves the library~*~
You're welcome, @Angus Talbot
And I knew--I just knew!
--Gale Thomas was going to be G R E A T at these group exercises the minute he made up the babysitter story in my first thread with him & Kilmore! I thought to myself "man, that is some support group shit." I'm glad he's here! We should def get him into a support group thread if you have time. And in fact, let me add, while Nana is kooky
, even in her early Lunacy "survival" (which is 100% where she is now), I do actually have a character that cries all the time. He's not involved in the support group (because he's an android) but he's still around that sector a lot and could conceivably be around the library during a meeting. ALT: I also have a totally unscientific method self helper who may or may not be available for lunacy stuff! SEVERAL ANGLES I CAN POKE LUNACY WITH, GALE DEAR <3 <3
I really dig these ideas! I love going about mechanics/methods/etc. a little differently/flexible/uniquely/FUN/etc. We actually leaned toward "roleplaying" in this thread
, but honestly this feels like a thing the group would be doing regularly to me, and is doable again and again and again.
And honestly there's a thought too--you don't have to look far to find characters maybe exhausted with the support group/Nana shenanigans, and I'm sure commiseration is a doable plot too. xDD
THANK YOU. WE SHOULD DO THESE. Man, I'm in for a big ol' group thread if others are! <3
